IIT Madras student and beef party organiser thrashed brutally

The right to chose food - Individual's or Government's decision?

IIT student attacked in beef party

Chennai: A day after around 50 students of IIT-Madras organised a ‘beef fest’ to protest against the Centre’s notification banning the sale of cattle for slaughter, the organiser of the event was trashed and attacked.

The student who is a PhD scholar at IIT-M was brutally thrashed by alleged right-wing members for organising this ‘beef fest.’ The victim sustained injuries to his right eye and was rushed to a hospital for treatment.

The students have alleged that a group of eight students assaulted him. One of the students also made death threats on Monday, against another PhD student. A complaint was filed with the Dean and campus security on Monday itself.

comments on the beef battle news

Left-wing students of IIT-Madras had held a “beef party” on Sunday night to protest against Center’s notification on the sale of cattle for slaughter.

The Madras High Court bench was hearing a plea that challenged the notification, stating that it was the basic right of an individual to choose his food.
